COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BEVELS, SLIDING T
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial
Item Description by all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This Commercial Item Description covers sliding
T-bevels, used by machinists and carpenters for measuring and transferring
angles in layout work.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The sliding T- bevels shall conform to the following types
2.1 Type I. Wood handle.
2.2 Type II. Plastic handle
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
3.1 Design. The bevel shall consist of a blade and handle with a locking
device to hold the blade in any position relative to the handle.
3.1.1 Type I, handle. Handles shall be made of straight grained,
hardwood, with a smooth finish, and treated to prevent absorption of moisture.
Handles shall be bound at each end by metal tips, which are securely fastened
to the handle. The handles shall measure 5-9/16 inches (+/-1/8 inch) in length,
1 inch (+/-1/8 inch) in width, and 23/32 inch (+/-1/16 inch) thick.
3.1.2 Type II, handle. Handles shall be made of rugged, one-piece
plastic. The handles shall measure 5-
9/1 6 inches (+/-1/8 inch) in length, 1 inch (+/-1/8 inch) in width, and 23/32 inch (+/-1/16 inch) thick.
